Hush Harbor, billed as the first bar in D.C. to go fully phone free. Other places have politely suggested patrons not use their phones, but at Hush Harbor, which quietly replaced the neighborhood hangout Hill Prince last week, it’s not a suggestion. It’s a policy. Even a flip phone must go into one of the pouches, which are made by a company called Yondr and are required by some schools and performers. Want to check your texts or catch up on emails? Sorry, you’ll have to step outside.
Once inside, you can forget about scanning Yelp for menu recommendations, toggling between news apps while awaiting a drink, or even looking to your screen for a quick time check.
The Owner, Rock Harper, opened his phone-free restaurant because “I know the magic of being present with people.”
